FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Palm Springs, CA. – January 25, 2010 – Falcon Electric, Inc., (www.falconups.com) an award-winning manufacturer of Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and exhibitor at LabAutomation 2010 (booth #133), today announced a new optional ten-year rated long-life battery in its SG Series UPS Plus product line. These batteries are rated to last twice the service life of standard five-year batteries. Since these new batteries cost more, they will remain an option on Falcon’s flagship line of UPSes. The new batteries will give users the ability to operate their Falcon UPS for up to a decade without maintenance. The new batteries are rated for ten years of expected life in a temperature-controlled environment (up to 25º C). Of equal importance, because of its true regenerative on-line design, the SG Series UPS does not fall into the "over-cycling" pitfall imposed by the "buck-boost" feature of line-interactive UPSes. "The new long-life, batteries used in a controlled environment, like an automated lab or computer network, will give users a up to a decade without UPS maintenance, " said Paul Newman, Director of Manufacturing-Engineering at Falcon Electric. “Scientists using line-interactive UPSes are thrilled with the idea of not having to maintain their UPS for ten years, saving them a lot of money.” Typically, batteries are the only element of an UPS that requires regular maintenance, other than a fan that must be replaced after about 10 years. Users are instructed to ensure the environment is free of dust, moisture and is well ventilated.
