Falcon Electric's Wide-Temperature Rated Precision AC Voltage Regulator Achieves "Honorable Mention" in Control Engineering's 2012 Engineers' Choice Awards

Innovative UL Listed AC Power Line Regulator can operate in extreme hot and cold temperature environments

Irwindale, Calif. – March 22, 2012 – Falcon Electric, Inc. (, an award-winning manufacturer of online uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), frequency converters and precision ac regulators, today announced its unique UL Listed wide-temperature SVR-PL Series Precision AC Voltage Regulator received an Honorable Mention in Control Engineering magazine's "2012 Engineers' Choice Awards."

"It's an honor to be recognized by Control Engineering's readers for our SVR-PL Series Precision Voltage Regulator," said Falcon Electric's Vice President of Marketing, Ron Seredian. "Many of today's industrial and defense applications are operating in very hostile and environmentally challenging conditions. Through carefully selected components, precise design and optimized cooling, Falcon engineers have specifically designed the SVR-PL to deliver uncompromised output power in ultra-wide temperature environments of -30ºC to 65ºC (-22ºF to 149ºF)."

The SVR-PL rackmount and tower configured voltage regulators, which are UL, CUL and FCC Class B Listed, are ideal for use in variable high and low temperature applications where maintaining a constant temperature is required. Available in 1kVA, 1.5kVA, 2kVA, 2.5kVA and 3kVA models, the lightweight (31 and 32 pounds) SVR-PL provides clean, regulated, sinewave output power even when operating from an unregulated incoming ac power source, such as from an on-site generator. This gives users the highest level of protection against a wide spectrum of power problems, in contrast to the typical power conditioner, which relies on a tap-switching transformer to crudely regulate the output voltage.

Due to Falcon's flexible design platform, the SVR-PL can be configured as a frequency converter for worldwide power applications. Accepting a 50/60Hz input and providing a fixed 60Hz or 50Hz output, the SVR-PL supplies a tightly regulated output of ±2% and excellent extended brownout protection.

The February issue of Control Engineering contains the annual roundup of innovative products. Entitled "Spotlight on Innovation – Best automation, control and instrumentation products in 30 categories," this in-depth evaluation encompasses more than 100 product nominations from 62 companies that were listed on ballots for evaluation. "Automation professionals from Control Engineering's subscriber lists voted to identify the products they felt were the most exceptional based on technological advancement. The ballots were carefully vetted by a panel of judges," said Control Engineering's Managing Editor, Amanda McLeaman.
