April 8, 2003 - Irwindale, CA - Falcon Electric, Inc., an innovator of high-frequency on-line, single-phase Uninterruptible Power Systems, introduces a new 5kVA 120Vac on-line UPS.
The SG Series 5kVA UPS Plus fulfills the need of users who operate computer and other sensitive equipment in environments where a 208/240 input voltage source is not available. The SG 5kVA offers a 120 and 240 output.
The SG Series 5kVA UPS Plus is ideal for smaller office facilities that are only wired for 120 Volt service. Installing the SG Series 5kVA 120 Volt UPS eliminates the need to submit revised permits for the installation of a transformer and additional wiring to provide 208/240 Volt electrical power. The SG 5 kVA is also ideal for mobile or remote applications running off of generators where 120Vac is the only input voltage offered. It can also be configured to provide 230Vac, 50Hz for testing or operating European equipment from a 120Vac, 60Hz source.
The 5kVA UPS includes state of the art input power factor correction. This greatly reduces the amount of current demanded from a building's wiring system, thereby saving costs.
Other standard features include: a high efficiency true Regenerative On-line design, auto restart, a comprehensive front panel user interface, site wiring indicator and built-in surge protection.
Special models feature a unique voltage/frequency converter option for worldwide applications. These models also work well in harsh environmental conditions where there is poor frequency input, such as applications running on generator power. Their wide input frequency window allows for flawless operation in such conditions.
The SG 5kVA includes a free version of UPSilon 2000 advanced shutdown and monitoring software that supports Novell, Windows 3x, NT, NTFS, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP and Linux operating systems. It also supports an optional internal SNMP/HTTP agent.
An optional Maintenance Bypass Switch, "make before break," (MBS) is also available. This MBS is superior to those that are "break before make" since there is no switchover time. This feature is especially important when a user needs equipment up and running 24 hours a day. If the UPS requires servicing, the user can simply switch to utility power with the MBS and continue uninterrupted equipment operation, while allowing the UPS to be removed for servicing. A prime application example is a 911 emergency communication center that must operate 24 hours a day.
The list price is: $4,406. Size and weight are: 32.1"x10.2"x21.8" and 301.4 lbs. The model number is SG5K-1TX. UL and CUL listed.
