with Unique LCD Display and Superior Voltage Regulation

June 30, 2003 - Irwindale, CA - Falcon Electric, Inc. unveils a new sinewave, line-interactive UPS product line, featuring a versatile Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) display and superior voltage regulation. The Falcon SMP Series is available in 500VA, 700VA and 1kVA models.

The Falcon SMP product line features a unique user-friendly LCD display. In contrast to simple LED lights, this LCD display shows detailed information to users. The LCD shows over 12 operating parameters and provides explanations. It also gives the specific AC input and output voltages. This is important for users because they can monitor the UPS's condition without needing to access monitoring software.

The Falcon SMP Series features a special two-stage buck and boost Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) that allows for high-grade voltage regulation. It provides 5% regulation on utility and 3% on battery. This tight voltage regulation ensures quality power being fed to users' equipment. Most line-interactive UPSs typically offer 8 to 15% line voltage regulation.

The two-stage AVR function also enables the SMP Series to accept a wide input voltage range without draining its battery. Users thereby preserve their UPS's battery life to provide them with optimal battery time in case of a blackout.

The Falcon SMP Series also provides a sinewave form to critical equipment. This sinewave power can extend the overall life of power supply components. Many line-interactive UPSs produce square or step-wave forms.

All SMP models include a free version of UPSilon 2000 advanced shutdown and monitoring software that supports Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2000 Server, XP, Linux, Novell Netware 5 & 6, Unix, FreeBSD and other operating systems.

Designed for small spaces, the Falcon SMP Series is compact and lightweight. All models are 7.9 (H) x 7.1 (W) x 14.2 (D) inches. The 500VA weighs 24.3 lbs and the 700 and 1kVA weigh 33.1 lbs each.
